Georgetown

Georgetown pairs a courthouse square often called the most beautiful town square in Texas with lakes, a university and a quieter pace. It grew about 58% from 2020 to 2025, and it still feels like a real town.

01 · Overview

Where it is & what it feels like

Georgetown is the Williamson County seat, about 28 miles north of downtown Austin on I-35. The Victorian courthouse square is the heart of town, with restaurants, wine bars and shops, and the Red Poppy Festival every April. Southwestern University, the oldest university in Texas, is a few blocks away.

The city runs from Old Town's historic homes to big master-planned communities like Wolf Ranch and Berry Creek, plus Sun City, one of the largest 55+ communities in the country with about 9,700 homes.
